Mr Braim had a wealth of experience in both the optical industry and practice. He worked as marketing manager for Smith & Nephew in Dagenham, before joining Hydron Netherlands. He was involved in the first aphakic contact lens trials at the Royal Victoria in Newcastle in the early 1970s, as well as participating in Food and Drug Administration trials for Hydron in Miami.
Mr Braim worked as UK sales director with Carl Zeiss from 1978 to 1989, before setting up his own practice, Bright Eyes, in Bedford, where he worked until his death.
Mr Braim previously worked for Rayners in Harrogate, Wozencrofts in Derby, as well as at Contact Lens Clinics in Leeds, Glasgow, Carlisle, Middlesborough and Newcastle.
He leaves a wife, Joan, and sons Phillip and Piers.
