John Lewis Opticians has expanded its optical service into Kingston, London following initial openings in Westfield Stratford City and Cardiff department stores earlier in the year.
The Kingston launch last month was the first new concession of its 2015-17 rollout plan, offering brands including Giorgio Armani, Prada and Ray-Ban as part of a link up with Luxottica UK.
London-based retail design specialists Innovare Design collaborated with John Lewis and Luxottica to build on the original trial concept.
‘We are delighted to be a part of the team taking this new venture forward,’ said Lloyd Blakey, creative director at Innovare Design. ‘Having looked closely at the trial concessions, we have all worked hard to develop an open, airy and inviting space that sits well within the John Lewis brand.’
The 100 square metre optical unit at Kingston was situated on the first floor, with a ‘space-efficient’ main sales areas and consultation zones, coloured acrylics and low level mirrors to define its ‘Kids Zone’. The practice has two examination rooms, a pre-screening and contact lens teaching area and a back of house laboratory.
Paul Bate, property manager at Luxottica UK, said: ‘It’s been a great working partnership between the John Lewis design team, Innovare Design and Luxottica. Together we’ve brought top class eye care coupled with a range of world leading brands to John Lewis shoppers who rely on the very best in customer service and product assortment.’
