TV presenter Judy Finnigan has become the face of a new BBC Lifeline appeal for vision charity Fight for Sight.
She was keen to support the charity as her mother lost her sight to age-related macular degeneration, while Finnigan has herself received emergency eye operations since suffering a detached retina in 2010.
She said: ‘I’ve witnessed first-hand the devastation that sight loss can cause, seeing my mother lose her confidence was heart-breaking. My own experience was extremely difficult and it makes you fully appreciate your sight. It’s something I will never take for granted.’ The appeal will be shown on BBC One on April 20.
