Keeler has extended its indirect ophthalmoscope range with the addition of the Spectra Iris. The manufacturer said the instrument had been designed as a compact, lightweight and portable unit with an adjustable aperture for all pupil sizes.

The ophthalmoscope features an adjustable aperture slider that changes the aperture between 20mm to 60mm to match pupil size. The unit has variable PD settings between 48 and 76mm, with no restrictions on the user. It is supplied with a lightweight wraparound sports-style frame for comfort and can fit over the top of spectacles.

An in-built LED light source was claimed to eliminate the need for bulb replacements and offers up to four hours of continuous use. The complete optical unit and light pod can also be flipped up to allow direct eye contact when talking to a patient or writing up notes.
