Keeler offers new CCD camera

Keeler has developed a miniature high-resolution charge couple device camera, which the company claims is an ideal low-cost choice for practitioners who want an efficient image-recording facility.

The AT-1000 Microlens measures 12cm x 6.5cm x 4cm and comes with a universal adaptor that fits over the eyepiece of any slit lamp and is fixed in place using three small screws. Fitting it in this way avoids the need for a beam splitter and enables the camera to collect 100 per cent of the light coming through the eyepiece, states Keeler. The Microlens has a PAL composite signal which allows it to be used in conjunction with a colour monitor, television or personal computer. A video recorder can also be connected to the camera, providing permanent records for an image library, information exchange, teaching or personal interest. The Microlens can be used with a Goldmann or Volk lens to record images of the posterior segment, and with the Tearscope to evaluate a patient's suitability for contact lenses and dry-eye assessment.
