A fringe event organised to raise the profile of eye care among politicians attending the Labour Party conference this week was well attended, according to the Eye Health Alliance
The event, 'Diversity in commissioning - opportunity or a choice too far?' was organised by the Eye Health Alliance, which is a member of the Health Hotel. This is a collaborative venture of 36 health organisations working to put on a series of events to attract politicians at the party conferences. The event was addressed by health minister Ben Bradshaw.
Speaking on behalf of the Eye Health Alliance, David Hewlett said: 'It was good to see so many supporting our view, that there is a need for a better balance between nationally prescribed and locally commissioned services. The fact that eye health was leading this debate showed how far the Eye Health Alliance has come.'
