Health minister Ann Keen, who is responsible for eye care, addressed an event organised by the Eye Health Alliance and other members of the Health Hotel at this week's Labour Party Conference.
This year the Alliance is vice chair of the Health Hotel, a coalition of health organisations and charities which organises a series of events at the political party conferences.
The event debated the issue of services and the quality of life for people with long-term conditions and attracted over 100 delegates.
'What has impressed me the most is the use of professionals in the wider community,' said Keen. 'We need to audit the expertise of health professionals and look at on-going training.'
