Ladies rally for cancer charity

Shilpa Sanghani, a locum optometrist practising in the south of England, and friend Roz Mussa, a London-based contact lens fitter, will be taking part in a charity Ladies Car Rally.

The event, which takes place on June 20 in Oxford, features teams of six women undertaking challenging tasks such as tank and HGV driving. The intrepid duo, who will join around 600 female entrants, are hopeful they will raise a minimum of &\#163;300 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. The company's chairman, Nigel Wingate, handed over a presentation cheque to Mr Clarke (pictured right), who joined as a trainee in Oxford. He became the first manager of the newly opened branch in Witney, Oxfordshire, before later moving to Didcot. Mr Wingate praised Mr Clarke's involvement in the local community while manager at the Didcot branch as an example of how to build a successful practice. He also recognised Mr Clarke's achievement in establishing the new role of training manager at the company's headquarters in Bournemouth. Mr Wingate said the venture had successfully developed innovative schemes, including the introduction of CET into the company. As a keen computer and electronics enthusiast, Mr Clarke intends to put his cheque towards purchasing new hardware.
