The NXT lens material from Intercast Europe is now being used in sports eyewear through partnerships with sports eyewear manufacturers.
Arc from Specialised is described as 'the world's lightest mask made in NXT', while manufacturer Rudy Project has also created a model mounting photochromic ImpactX lenses in NXT for use by top Tour de France cyclist Jan Ullrich. This new range of lenses uses a formulation that allows the production of a semi-rigid lens without affecting NXT's optical quality, said the company, 'providing the utmost performance and protection during sports activities in any weather condition'.
Intercast Europe has started work with Swiss laboratory Biomex Protection to develop further applications for the patented NXT optical polymer.
