Caerphilly-based Lenstec Optical Laboratories has purchased the Rawdon Optical laboratory in Leeds, in a move that strengthens its supply and manufacturing of spectacles and uncut lenses.

Castle added that negotiations had been taking place for four months and that 25 of Rawdon’s staff would be retained. He added that he hoped to expand on that and to be able grow the lab in the future, growing the plant in the way Lenstec had done with Hertfordshire-based Tant Labs which joined the group in 2010. Tant has expanded from 23 staff to 65 in that time.
