LOCs asked for input into initiative to streamline ophthalmology referrals
Local Optical Committees have been asked for their input into a national initiative to streamline ophthalmology referrals.
The NHS’s High Impact Intervention framework will look at ways of tackling demand and capacity issues within the Hospital Eye Service.
Outpatient visits to ophthalmology now total eight million making it the biggest outpatient group. A range of audits and interventions will look at reducing patients lost to delay and follow up to improve outcomes.
