Two new officer induction days have been announced by the Local Optical Committee Support Unit (LOCSU) to help its members respond to new opportunities created by NHS changes in England.
The training will help new officers develop their core knowledge of how to best to support their local optical committee.
It will also cover how to effectively run local or regional committees, developing more opportunities for community optometry and how to develop and improve negotiation skills and communication channels with commissioners.
Gill Brabner, director of education and training for LOCSU, said that committees were facing a 'seismic shift' in the way they were commissioned and that the courses provided useful refresher training to help deal with the fallout.
