Lord Howe praises UK Vision Strategy

Lord Howe, parliamentary under secretary of state for quality (with responsibility for eye care), spoke on the government's vision of the Big Society for eye care and sight loss provision at the Vision UK 2011 conference held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster on June 16.

'We believe that locally and clinically-led patient focused working is the way forward and is the best way to improve services for patients and provide support for people who have lost their sight.'

Lord Howe acclaimed the work of the UK Vision Strategy, which was launched in 2008, saying it has blazed a trail for the strategy underpinning the pending Health and Social Care Bill by bringing together a variety of organisations
