Optics praised as the Big Society in action

Optics has embraced the idea of the Big Society and the UK Vision Strategy is completely in line with government's thinking on the view of the future.

Speaking at Vision UK 2011 in London this week Lord Howe, parliamentary under secretary of state for quality (with responsibility for eye care), spoke on the government's vision of the Big Society for eye care and sight loss provision.

'We believe that locally and clinically led patient focused working is the way forward and is the best way to improve services for patients and provide support for people who have lost their sight,' he said.
