Shadow spokesperson on Health Lord Hunt has spoken out against the slow British eye care establishment during a visit to Oxford-based variable focus eyewear producer, Adlens.
The company claimed Lord Hunt’s visit was initiated by a desire to learn more about the company and the issues surrounding the General Optical Council’s opposition to adjustable-focus eyewear being sold ‘over the counter.’
‘Adlens clearly represents British design and manufacturing at its best,’ said Hunt. ‘This seems to be another example of a British innovation, which sells well overseas being held back in the UK because of the slowness to adopt by the eye care establishment.’
