Luxottica has set a new net sales record and been linked with the addition of a leading eyewear brand to its portfolio.
The Italian firm last week posted sales of more than €7.3bn for 2103, up 7.5 per cent on 2012 at constant exchange rates or 3.2 per cent at current rates.
A report by Reuters, meanwhile, fuelled speculation about the purchase of a big-name eyewear company.
The Ray-Ban manufacturer is expected to sign a new eyewear licence worth at least $100m in sales, according to chief executive Andrea Guerra, who was speaking at an investor meeting in Milan. He was quoted as saying the move would be within months and the new licence would come on board in January 2015.
