Luxottica is the latest eyewear manufacturer to target the 3D glasses market. It aims to launch a range in premium optical outlets in the US by the end of the year, followed by a global launch in 2011.
Subsidiary Oakley said in a statement that the new 3D eyewear 'both complements and optimises the technology used in the majority of 3D movie theatres around the world'.
The company claimed its new 'HDO-3D technology, premium editions in the new line would be the first 3D eyewear with optically correct lenses'. It is unclear whether these would be available as prescription frames.
