The agreement means that the company has recruited 20 additional staff to produce the new product at its plant in Dumbarton, Scotland.

Having recently started production of the circular polarised lenses necessary for the glasses after six months of development work, Polaroid sees big potential for the 3D market and envisages employing even more staff to cope with demand.

Under the terms of the licensing agreement, Polaroid Eyewear will distribute its RealD certified Polaroid Premium 3D Eyewear line to cinemas, opticians and other retail channels. The 3D Eyewear will be compatible with all RealD 3D enabled visual equipment around the world. Polaroid told Optician that the new Polaroid Premium 3D Eyewear will be distributed in the UK by Norville.
