In announcing the launch of its own 3D division, Marchon will become the first major frame manufacturer to make 3D eyewear available to optical practices.
As well as signing a global licensing agreement with RealD, the most widely used 3D cinema technology, to use its RealD brand for sales of Marchon 3D eyewear, the company also agreed to purchase the 3D assets of optical manufacturer MicroVision Optical.
Marchon 3D lenses use circular polarisation technology compatible with RealD cinemas and soon to be released televisions, laptops and monitors. A key feature of the new eyewear is that the lenses block 100 percent of UVA and UVB rays and are also designed to be used outdoors as sunglasses
