Doctors Scott and Roisin Mackie celebrated three decades of optometric education provision through their company, Mackie Consultants.
The duo set up their first ever course, Eyecare 3000, while in their final year of postgraduate study at Glasgow Caledonian University in 1995.
Upon graduating with PhDs and setting up Mackie Opticians, they ran their courses in Glasgow, London, Cardiff, Belfast and Dublin for a further 20 years. The event portfolio was later sold to Peter Charlesworth, who started the Eyecare brand.
Mackie Consultants later established the Scottish Optical Conference in Glasgow, which the company said was the largest one day CPD event for independent opticians in the UK, with three tracks of education, 60 exhibitors and more than 350 delegates.
