The Macular Society has announced a new PhD Studentship fund to run alongside its established Annual Research Grant round.

The charity this week opened applications for two PhD Studentships of £100,000 for UK students starting in 2015. It was also taking applications for the 2015 research grant round, with up to £170,000 available over three years.

Tony Rucinski, chief executive of the Macular Society, added: ‘Every day, 200 more people are added to the number that live with macular sight loss in the UK. The Macular Society is unique in being determined to increase investment into pioneering medical research that will find a cure.
