Optical professionals around the country will this month be tickled pink to learn that they can become involved in a major fundraising initiative for Breast Cancer Care. For the next 12 months, CooperVision will donate £1 to the charity for every one month's supply of its Proclear 1 Day contact lenses sold. And, throughout October - which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month - the contact lens manufacturer will up that donation to £2. The aim is to raise in excess of £100,000 over the course of the year.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, and the third most common cause of cancer death, with more than 12,500 deaths in the UK each year.
