Marathon dash for overseas aid

Optometrist Martin Reynolds raised around &\#163;1,000 for eye care charity Vision Aid Overseas recently after he completed the New York marathon.

Mr Reynolds, who practises at branches of Vision Express in Sutton Coldfield and Leamington Spa, finished the event in four hours and 30 minutes. He joined more than 30,000 entrants who ran the 26.2-mile distance around the streets of Brooklyn, Statten Island and Manhattan. 'It's a fantastic feeling to cross the finish line and have so many people cheering you on as you run,' said Mr Reynolds. 'On top of the personal achievement of finishing, it's very rewarding to know you've raised money to help a charity you really believe in.' Mr Reynolds also expressed his thanks on behalf of Vision Aid Overseas to everyone who contributed to his sponsorship.
