London Marathon competitor David Barnes, an optometrist from Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey, has raised more than &\#163;1,000 for the National Children's Blind Society.
Mr Barnes, who works for Optical Express, finished in four hours and 25 minutes. 'It was fantastic to reach the finishing line - the crowds were great,' he said. Mr Barnes also expressed his thanks to friends, family and suppliers who helped him reach his sponsorship target. The proceeds from the event will help the charity provide educational facilities and activities for blind children.
