Marchon Eyewear has secured a licence deal for eyewear brand Nine West - replacing rival firm Safilo Group.
Nine West owner The Jones Group confirmed Marchon would take over the creation, production, marketing and global distribution of ophthalmic eyewear and prescription-ready sunglasses for Nine West from January next year.
Safilo expressed its appreciation to Jones for 'the work carried out over the years of collaboration', saying the licence represented approximately 1 per cent of Safilo Group's 2010 total revenues. It will continue to represent the brand until the end of the year.
Richard Dickson, Jones Group president and CEO of branded businesses, said: 'We are pleased to enter into this agreement with Marchon for Nine West optical eyewear.
'Nine West's origins as a premier global fashion brand allow us to extend it into relevant categories, particularly accessories such as eyewear - a perfect fit for Nine West. We believe this collaboration with Marchon will further enhance Nine West's powerful brand message.'
