Now a business park, the old airfield has recently seen some new manoeuvres as a result of Marcolin’s purchase of the US firm Viva late last year, with its UK sales and marketing operations in Harrogate being incorporated into Marcolin UK as the Viva name is retired. Managing director of Marcolin UK, Perry Moore, speaking from the boardroom in what was the former RAF courthouse, explains that with the acquisition Marcolin is now the third biggest global eyewear manufacturer behind Luxottica and Safilo.
‘It’s a nice position to be in and we need to replicate that in the UK market,’ he says, explaining that the integration has been smooth and follows a similar process to the US, which was carried out earlier in the year.
