Sustainability in the production process is a goal for Italian acetate manufacturer Mazzucchelli and the company has made strides towards this by partnering with speciality plastics provider Eastman.
Mazzucchelli will produce and sell acetate sheets made from Eastman Acetate Renew, a cellulose diacetate composed of 60% organic material and 40% recycled content.
Eastman’s material results in a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions when compared to the traditional manufacturing process while ensuring no drop in material quality.
Acetate scraps from Mazzucchelli’s manufacturing process will also be provided to Eastman for use in making new material, ensuring that there is a closed loop production cycle that avoids landfill use or environment pollution.
