Optometrist Lorcan McGarry of Argus Opticians in Donegal Town, County Donegal, Ireland, is taking part in the Dublin marathon at the end of the month.
The optometrist aims to raise €2,000 for a local primary school special needs unit and the Donegal cancer support unit.
It's been a busy year for McGarry. He opened his practice in July, planned his wedding and managed to fit in the training necessary to run the marathon distance.
He said: 'I completed the Dublin marathon last year in under three and a half hours and if I achieve the same feat this year, injury permitting, I'd be delighted.'
