Contact lens maker Menicon is to locate its international operations outside of Japan in Emmen, the Netherlands.
The company announced a major reorganisation this month creating a new entity, Menicon Holdings, and a new global management team. Menicon Holdings will build headquarters and a manufacturing plant in Emmen.
The new plant, to open in 2013, will initially produce custom contact lenses for the European market and house Menicon's European R&D centre.
In 2009 Menicon acquired UK manufacturer David Thomas Contact Lenses, based in Northampton.
