Mido agrees to weekday shift

Exhibitions

Next year's Mido exhibition in Italy has been scheduled to run through the weekend and into Tuesday at the request of exhibitors.

The dates for Mido 2012 have been confirmed as March 11-13, at the Fieramilano Rho-Pero exhibition centre, Milan. It follows feedback from exhibitors and visitors who expressed a preference for the fair to be held during the week.

Organisers announced that areas at the event would include Mido Fashion District, Mido Design Lab and Mido Tech. A 'world of lenses' has also been planned that will include a 'health and innovation area'. Last year Mido had 1,100 exhibitors from 44 countries, with 42,000 visitors.

New Mido president Cirillo Marcolin said: 'I intend to pursue the same goals with renewed energy and with a view to safeguarding the uniqueness of our sector, the fruit of unequalled know-how, a combination of quality and experimentation, tradition, and innovation that has guaranteed our outstanding position in the world and made eyewear the leading sector among Made in Italy products.'
