Mido builds momentum in Milan

Exhibitors from 150 different countries created an international feel

Optical professionals convened in Milan last weekend (February 4-6) for the 51st edition of Mido at the Rho Fiera Milano.

More than 1,000 exhibitors from 150 different countries gave the event an international feel that had been lacking in optical trade shows after the pandemic. Show organisers said they had focused heavily on attracting international visitors and arranged several hostel buyer programmes and partnerships with travel operators for discounts on flights.

‘We are extremely satisfied with the turnout and success of the event,’ commented Mido president Giovanni Vitaloni. ‘To be honest, I wasn’t totally confident, after these difficult years, of the return to in-person attendance, considering that the majority of the participants come from abroad. Mido is the reference point for the eyewear sector and is, therefore, essential for us and, above all, for the entire supply chain.’
