Mido trade fair maintains status quo

STATUS QUO: Nearly 42,000 optics professionals from 40 countries descended on Milan last week for the 42nd Mido International Optics, Optometry and Ophthalmology exhibition. Show organisers said the figures were virtually identical to that of 2011's event, but the number of Italian delegates was said to have fallen slightly, along with overall attendance on the Tuesday. 'We had a very good turnout on the first two days - the results were really surprising,' said Mido and Anfao President Cirillo Marcolin. This year's event opened on a Sunday for the first time in its history - a move introduced to attract more Italian opticians.
