Mail Optics, which has been established by Wolverhampton-based dispensing optician Sacha Khalil, was visited by Mr Byers when he launched a &\#163;59m foundation to help the city become a centre of new internet companies. Mr Byers told an audience of business leaders at the 'cyber city' launch: 'It's great to see companies working in this way to harness new technology. 'Marrying a traditional sector such as this to the internet will bring enormous benefits to us all and it is something I would like to see much more of.' The head of the DTI praised Mail Optics for setting up the business in Wolverhampton, which was recently awarded new city status. He said: 'It's excellent to see you doing business in Wolverhampton - it will be great for the people and the city.' Mr Khalil said it was a 'dream come true' for a government minister to help launch his company. He said that he intended to make the company a household name and expand into Europe. Mail Optics is selling 'price reductions' on branded contact lenses, designer frames and sunglasses via the internet.
