Pharmaceutical company Novartis and the NHS have together launched a mobile eye unit to serve the area surrounding Frimley Park Hospital.
Described as the first of its kind in the country, the unit would travel across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire, seeing up to 50 patients per day.
It was to offer one-stop diagnosis and treatment services for conditions such as wet age related macular degeneration, a statement said.
‘Novartis is committed to supporting the NHS in identifying solutions to address unmet clinical need,’ said Frederic Guerard, Novartis Pharmaceuticals UK managing director United Kingdom and Ireland.
