Moorfields opens Northwick Park eye centre

Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust officially opened a £3.4m eye centre at Northwick Park in Harrow last week. The Mayor of Brent, Councillor Bobby Thomas (right), pictured with Moorfields' chief executive John Pelly, unveiled a plaque to commemorate the centre, one of several satellites Moorfields runs across London. The event was attended by GPs, ophthalmologists, optometrists and representatives of Friends of Moorfields, who are providing an eye clinic liaison officer to counsel, advise and support patients with serious sight loss. Pelly said the partnership with North West London Hospitals meant patients from Brent and Harrow would have access to world-class, specialist eye care and treatment on their doorstep. 'This refurbished centre has enabled Moorfields to double the size of our outpatient unit and added new facilities including a permanent operating theatre to replace the previous temporary arrangements,' he said.
