KEVIN MITCHELL has been appointed director of David Thomas Contact Lenses. Mr Mitchell has been with the company for 13 years, working as general manager for the last eight. He first joined the company when it was based in Croydon, Surrey. When it moved to Northampton in 1976, he stayed in Croydon and joined another contact lens manufacturing company. After running his own business for several years, he rejoined David Thomas in 1988.

De Rigo UK has expanded its sales team with three new appointments. TONY FRANKLIN joins as nationwide brand manager for Celine, Loewe, La Perla and Etro. He has more than 20 years' experience in optics, including working for the Cambridge Optical Group. FEARGAL MAHER has taken over the Police, Etro and La Perla brands in Ireland. UWE GRATZER will be responsible for Fendi and Fila Eyes as well as the new Fila ActivEyewear line in Ireland. Michael Green, chief executive of sales, De Rigo UK said that, with the endorsement of the Police brand by David Beckham, and the advertising behind it, the company was gearing itself up for a busy 2001. 'Add to this the launch of Loewe, Celine and Fila AvtivEyewear lines and the need to bolster the team with other highly experienced sales managers becomes apparent.'
