An MP visited a constituency practice at the end of last month and called for parental guardians around the UK to provide their children with regular sight tests.
Rupa Huq, MP for Ealing Central and Acton, met with young patients and chair of the Ealing and Hounslow LOC, Joy Hynes, to raise awareness.
This followed the publication of the Nicer study earlier this year, which recorded twice as many cases of child myopia than a similar study that took place in the 1960s. The research was gathered by a collaboration between the University of Ulster and the College of Optometrists.
