David Jones retired from his position as technical services manager at Essilor in December.
His departure and 30-year contribution to the success of the company were honoured by Essilor staff during a presentation at its Thornbury offices. Many of Jones' friends and colleagues from the optical industry were in attendance. Affectionately known by many as 'Mr Varilux', Jones said he planned to spend his retirement playing lots more golf and enjoying some cycling. An Essilor company statement said: 'David's departure is a loss to the industry and he will be missed by everyone.'
