M&S offers free sight tests for drivers

M&S to give drivers free sight tests until December 10

M&S has said it will give drivers free sight tests until December 10 to identify if they meet the 20 metres vision legal standard.

This has coincided with National Road Safety Week taking place between November 19-25 and police officers being able to revoke licences if drivers fail to read a number plate 20 metres away. Recent studies suggested that approximately 1.9 million drivers have vision below the legal standard.

An M&S spokesperson said: ‘The general public, who do wear glasses, are usually very good at keeping up-to-date with their eye exams. However, adults who haven’t had any issues previously, can develop a false sense of security, as they don't realise changes can occur – they often go undetected as they happen gradually. We regularly test patients who are surprised to discover that they do not meet the DVLA standard.’
