Online retailer MyOptique Group has secured £8m in funding and appointed a new chairman while Jamie Murray Wells has stepped down as director and chairman following the sale of the majority of his shares to Cipio Partners.
The group, made up of Glasses Direct, MyOptique, SunglassesShop and contact lens site LensOn, has appointed Maurice Helfgott, founder and chairman of Amery Capital, as chairman, while Murray Wells has joined Google as industry manager prior to sales of its Google Glass.
New investors Cipio Partners and GP Bullhound Sidecar join existing investors Acton Capital Partners, Highland Capital Partners and Index Ventures, with the latest round of funding to be used for further growth and potential acquisitions. MyOptique also plans to further develop its London Retro and Scout eyewear brands.
