National Eye Health Week (NEHW) organisers are pointing to a successful awareness week where over 450 pieces of press coverage had been generated by Friday September 26.
This included Dr Hilary Jones promoting the importance of regular sight tests on ITV breakfast television and Dr Susan Blakeney, clinical advisor to the College of Optometrists, appearing on This Morning.
Organisers said media interest in the smoking and sight loss initiative would continue in the run up to Stoptober, which commenced on October 1.
They added that NEHW also enjoyed unprecedented levels of supporter involvement with public health teams, optometrists, charities, local eye health networks and others promoting eye health messages to local communities across the country.
