The National Eyecare Group has reported 12.7 per cent revenue growth for the latest financial year.
It was the fourth consecutive year that the purchasing group for independents has seen double digit growth.
Phil Mullins, NEG director of business development, said: ‘Although the UK optical market remains tough, this performance shows that the independent sector is still a force in today’s market.’
Membership has also increased by six per cent, with more than 1,000 independent practices now part of the NEG network.
Mullins added: ‘We have worked hard over the last few years to develop strong partnerships with, and between, our members, our suppliers and optical agencies – with the overriding aim of supporting the UK’s truly independent practices.
