Purchasing group the National Eyecare Group has reported 12.7% revenue growth for the past financial year.
Membership also increased by 6%, with more than 1,000 independent practices now part of the NEG network.
Phil Mullins, NEG director of business development, said: ‘Although the UK optical market remains tough, this performance shows that the independent sector is still a force in today’s market.
‘We have worked hard over the past few years to develop strong partnerships with, and between, our members, our suppliers and optical agencies – with the overriding aim of supporting the UK’s truly independent practices.’
