Netherton independent celebrates 30th anniversary

Since 1992, the practice has grown with additional cataract services

Netherton Eye Centre has celebrated its 30th anniversary by welcoming patients into the practice for an event that included a free raffle.

The independent first opened in 1992 and was able to host an event with patients in practice for the first time since Covid-19 started.

Tracy Tennant started working at the practice as a receptionist when it opened and has since become the practice manager before becoming a partner of the business in 2001.

‘I’m really proud to have been here from the very start of the practice’s history, so much has changed since 1992 in terms of frames and technology, but I think we still have the same values now than we did when we first started. I think our patients keep coming back to us because we treat them like family; we get to know them and their wants and needs and give a really personalised service,’ Tennant said.

The practice, which is part of the Hakim Group, has expanded services and modernised over the years, including the addition of optical coherence tomography and cataract assessment clinics.

Commenting on the anniversary, Tennant added: ‘I think it’s a huge achievement for an independent optician to reach 30 years in business, especially with everything that has happened over the past two years. Our team also really deserves to celebrate for working extremely hard in challenging circumstances and I’m so proud to work alongside them.’
