There was a record attendance for this year's British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) annual clinical conference on May 29 - June 1 where Sarah Janikoun began her term as the Association's president.
Currently working at St Thomas' Hospital in London as an ophthalmologist working in general ophthalmology, diabetic eye care, provision of the low vision service and paediatric eye care Janikoun also has a Harley Street practice primarily involved in contact lens troubleshooting.
With special interests in medical contact lens practice and low vision, Janikoun has worked with two former BCLA Presidents, Jonathan Kersley and Chris Kerr. She also has experience in optometric teaching having given evening lectures to pre-registration students as the London Refraction Hospital (now the Institute of Optometry). Another major achievements in Janikoun's career was being the first president of the Medical Contact Lens and Ocular Surface Association for ophthalmologists. In addition to her professional responsibilities, she has performed charity work in Burma and Tanzania.
