Dawn Roberts, clinical director of Healthcall Optical Services, has become co-chair of the joint UK Domiciliary Eyecare Committee of the optical bodies.

Roberts joins Thurka Sivapalan in promoting the recently renewed Domiciliary Code of practice published earlier this autumn.

The optical bodies have been working together more closely through the recently formed joint committees and have developed a model of co-chairs.

'I am delighted and honoured to have been appointed co-chair of this important committee,' said Roberts.

'I have been on the committee since its inception five years ago and strongly support its work in championing this essential service for vulnerable patients and in raising standards of provision across the sector. It will be a great pleasure to work with Thurka who has chaired the committee so ably since January.'

The Domiciliary Committee has developed the code of conduct as a guide to standards on service for contractors, practitioners and other primary care organisations.

The code has been sent to all interested organisations and can be downloaded from the optical bodies' websites.

As well as clinical director of Healthcall, Roberts is optometric adviser to five primary care trusts.
