GMTV presenter Fiona Phillips opened the new £1.1m home of the Guy's and St Thomas' children's eye clinic. The facility includes three play areas to help keep children entertained while they wait for their appointments and test results.
Phillips toured the clinic and met patients and families before cutting the ribbon to mark the occasion.
'I am absolutely honoured to open the new children's eye clinic at St Thomas' Hospital,' she said. 'It is packed with state-of-the-art equipment and the staff are so friendly. The new clinic is an amazing place - it is so bright and colourful, unlike anything you would expect of a hospital clinic.'
The clinic was designed by Frederick Gibberd Partnership and includes an airy reception area, four consulting rooms and a number of orthoptic bays.
Another room for children with serious vision problems provides stimulation of other senses and specialised therapy using a mix of play, shaped lights, textures and sounds.
