New IOA president takes office

Donald Crichton has succeeded Fiona Anderson as new president of the International Opticians Association. 

Crichton has experienced many fields within the optical sector during his career since 1986. In the last few years, he has completed an honours degree in vision science, and recently returned to teach dispensing to the University of Auckland School of Optometry’s final year students. 

Crichton addressed members for the first time at the IOA’s Silmo Academy event in Singapore on April 12-14. 

‘With so many opportunities to engage and work with our membership it is an exciting time to work collaboratively and grow the association,’ he said.
