The BCLA conference saw a number of product launches, including Bausch +Lomb's new 'premium' daily disposable lens, the BioTrue Oneday.
The B+L lens has a Dk/t of 42 units and provides a 93 per cent flux oxygen available to the cornea but without using silicone. It is made from a new material called HyperGel and has a 78 per cent water content, comparable to that of the cornea, and an outer lens surface designed to mimic the lipid layer of the tear film 'to prevent dehydration and maintain consistent optics'.
CooperVision presented the new Proclear 1 day multifocal. The lens is being marketed as combining the biocompatibility of the ProClear material along with a fitting process which allows easy prescription updates and minimal chair time.
