New production facility for MEI

Prescription and sunglass lens machinery manufacturer MEI has started work on the construction of a new headquarters in Ponte San Pietro, Bergamo, Italy.

The new facility has been created to meet the needs of the company’s steady growth in production volumes and number of people it employs.

It was hoped that the new 10,500sqm facility would allow the company to grow the present annual average figure of 250 machines produced per year.

Stefano Sonzogni, MEI president and technical director said: ‘The new centre is meant to guarantee higher production volumes resulting in faster delivery of the machines requested. The new building will also provide more space for day-to-day operations, such as, for example, a demonstration room and a training room.’
